About Me

****this page under constant reconstructive surgery****
  1. Sarahndipitea = serendipity = good luck in making unexpected and fortunate discoveries
  2. I’m 28 years old and have girl parts.
  3. I am a control freak on a lot of issues, but since June or so have learned to let go. It’s a freeing experience.
  4. I have been blogging since September of 2000. I started at LiveJournal and some of the women who read this blog have been around since those days. I love my skeleton crew.
  5. I have a BA in German from Oregon State University.
  6. I am a huge Oregon State Beavers football fan.
  7. I used to yell at the TV for hours on end on Saturdays during football season.
  8. For some reason, the 2009/2010 football season has been pretty lackluster for me.
  9. I’m also a huge Ohio State University Buckeyes fan.
  10. I have a BA in Community Health Education from Portland State University.
  11. I was accepted to the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina for the Masters in public health program.
  12. Therefore, I sometimes cheer on the Gamecocks.
  13. My academic advisor teased me because I used to be a Beaver and would have been a Gamecock. Dirty.
  14. I opted NOT to move to South Carolina to be a Gamecock and earn my Master’s degree. Damned economy. The universe has a plan. I’m trying to go along with it.
  15. Sometimes I feel like a 12-year-old when it comes to certain words.
  16. I excelled at my job as a bank teller. I was miserable there, but I still kicked ass.
  17. I gave my notice in September 2009 though and moved to Berkeley for a new chapter in my life.
  18. After being in Berkeley for six weeks I moved into San Francisco. I’m excited to see how that all turns out!
  19. After being in San Francisco for a year, it looks like I’m heading back to the East Bay to live in the sunshine again.
  20. I’m worked as a NIH study coordinator (teaching high school students) along with my WEGO Health job while trying to figure out what the hell I want to do with my life.
  21. In June of 2010 I got a job working on cost consulting and construction management projects. I play with Excel spreadsheets and create a lot of documents. I like it.
  22. I think I want to teach.
  23. I am normally a voracious reader but this year has been rough on reading.
  24. I could read The Poisonwood Bible a hundred times and not be bored by it.
  25. I like a good bottle of Pinot Grigrio. Saint Michelle Pinot Grigrio wins the game so far. I could drink a gallon of it. Well, of course I could … but I would be DUH-runk at that point. Maybe I already am.
  26. I live with chronic pain. In one way or the other, it really affects my life. I explain how I “budget” life with chronic pain here at Women’s Health.
  27. My pain is technically called ankylosing spondylitis. It essentially means I have arthritis in my spine and it causes some REALLY bad pain. Please read that link if you’re close to me and want to understand what I live with day to day.
  28. After seeing a new doctor, I was told that I might not have Ankylosing Spondylitis. I am frustrated because this means we don’t know what I *do* have. Whatever it is, it hurts.
  29. I used acupuncture treatments to manage my pain. I haven’t since I moved.
  30. I am done with Kaiser’s required acupuncture classes and will be scheduling a pain management appointment in September.
  31. I get really grouchy when my pain gets too bad. I apologize ahead of time.
  32. I am an open book. If you have a question about me, you can always ask it. If I’m not ready to tell you, I’ll be honest about that, but otherwise I’ll probably tell you what you want to know.
  33. I used to watch a lot of reality TV. I don’t know why I like it so much, but I really enjoy it. I’m a huge fan of The Biggest Loser, The Bachelorette, So You Think You Can Dance, Project Runway and Big Brother. Moving has really cut down on my TV consumption though I have gotten TheMister into Big Brother 12.
  34. My favorite movie is Pride & Prejudice but I’ve never read the book. I’ve tried to three times now but can’t get through it. I also can’t figure out why.
  35. I love movie soundtracks, too. The compilations normally rock my socks off. My favorites are both Zach Braff related :: Garden State and The Last Kiss. Both are perfect for ANY type of mood.
  36. My favorite author is Barbara Kingsolver. I’ve read all of her books. Love her writing style.
  37. I was first published at 7. I wrote a book for an author’s conference. The book was about a horse who couldn’t walk well and got made fun of. I named the horse Sarah. A psychiatrist would have a heyday with that if I let them.
  38. I really don’t like odd numbers.
  39. I wear contacts and finally bought new glasses … I love them.
  40. I used to be a long-distance runner … my pain doesn’t let me run anymore.
  41. I watch a lot of weird movies. I only own 15 though. That amuses me.
  42. I could eat soup every day for the rest of my life (different versions) and be happy about it. I think.
  43. I prefer cats to dogs.
  44. If there are dogs around, I’d rather they be huge. Small dogs annoy me.
  45. I could watch Grease fifteen times in a row and not get tired of it.
  46. I love musicals. I’ve never not enjoyed one. Wierd, right.
  47. I write chick lit.
  48. I will try almost anything once. Almost.
  49. Foodwise I’ll try anything once, I think. (Anything but cold, raw seafood soup. That just makes me wanna gag.) I can’t promise I won’t gag at the table right in front of you, though.
  50. I know how to salsa dance.
  51. Until moving to the City I’ve never lived with a man I wasn’t married to.
  52. I am sure I’ve met the love of my life.
  53. I had a horrible diet Coke habit at one point.
